11:00am Sunday Service

This Sunday, May 24th, we are pleased to welcome Roy Berkowitz.

The message is entitled

Holding onto your ‘Sacred Center’:

Remembering our ‘Light Beneath the Dust and Darkness'

Unity’s 2nd principle says God is individualized in us as the Christ within, or indwelling Christ: the Christ Spirit is not out there, rather it is within all of us, not as “...an ideal but [as] a living reality.” Yet “It is far from easy to keep living where God is” and so often we wander from our true identity. Join us as we remind each other of that ‘light beneath the dust and darkness’ (Henri Nouwen), a light that can still shine bright even during these challenging times.

Roy Berkowitz has attended Unity since 1990; he has been speaking at his home church, Unity Center of DC (formerly CommUnity on the Hill), since 1996, and has also been a regular speaker at Unity of Shenandoah for the past 7 years. Roy recently retired from Inova Juniper Program, an outpatient clinic for people with HIV in northern Virginia, where for 21 years he worked as a mental health counselor and trained doctors, nurses, social workers, and health care workers to work with people infected and affected by HIV. He continues to consult and volunteer in the field. Roy is a produced and published playwright, and in 2013, an award-winning independent movie was made of one of his one act plays.

Dana Agnellini began performing and writing music for Unity Church services in 1993 in Savannah, Georgia. He has been a part of Unity of Fredericksburg since its inception. He loves Unity and has been blessed to have deepened his understanding of Unity principles, honed his musical skills and developed his skills as a Unity speaker here at the church that he calls home. Still a member of Unity of Fredericksburg, Dana is busy traveling to speak and perform at New Thought churches throughout the Mid-Atlantic so he is not always here physically but he is always here in spirit. He is grateful for the opportunity to share his heart with his church family.
