Dr. Loomis will discuss the profound health benefits of a plant-based diet, as well as its advantages for the environment and animal ethics. As the medical director of the Physicians Committee’s Barnard Medical Center, his mission it to change how we prevent, treat, and reverse chronic disease by using lifestyle, especially plant-based nutrition, as medicine. The choices we make about the food we eat affect not only our health, but have major ramifications for the state of the environment. Dr. Loomis was formerly the director of prevention and wellness at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis, where plant-based nutrition was the cornerstone of his medical practice.
